The City contracts with the County of Ventura Animal Services Department for animal control issues, including enforcement of the City's ordinance to declare any dog a public nuisance that barks so loudly, so frequently, and continuously over so long a period of time as to deprive individuals in the neighborhood of the comfortable enjoyment of their homes. Cat licensing is required in the cities of Moorpark and Oxnard.
Dog licenses may be obtained at City Hall at 2929 Tapo Canyon Road, some local pet stores, veterinarian offices and at the County's Simi Valley Holding Facility and the Main Shelter in Camarillo. Fixed-route Bus System:Simi Valley Transit provides public transportation throughout Simi Valley and portions of the western San Fernando Valley community of Chatsworth. Simi Valley Transit Bus_Schedules and Fixed Route Maps are displayed at most bus stop locations along Simi Valley Transit's four fixed-route bus lines and are also available on all buses. Trips can be scheduled for next day service or up to 14 days in advance by calling (805) 583-6464 between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday.

Accumulation of trash is not allowed on the property. The open storage of materials may be located in a rear yard, or behind a side yard fence, gate, or wall provided it does not constitute a health or safety hazard or violate any other laws. No open storage (except for furniture specifically designed for outdoor use) is permitted in the front yard or areas in front of a side yard fence, gate, or wall. Materials stored in any side or rear yard shall not be higher than the surrounding property line fence or side yard fence, gate, or wall. Trash receptacles may be placed out for collection no earlier than 4:30 p.m. on the day immediately prior to collection, and must be removed no later than 10:00 p.m. on the day of collection. No. Work Permits must be obtained from the youth’s school of attendance. Entertainment Work Permits must be obtained from the Division of Labor Standards Enforcement. The YES provides training and assistance with job search, interview, and workplace readiness skills as well as job referrals to youth ages 13-22 at no cost. The Neighborhood Councils serve as advisory bodies to the City Council and Planning Commission.
