Mission Statement

To deliver excellent service to our community by providing a safe and healthy living environment, sound fiscal management, responsive customer service, and an atmosphere that encourages community involvement and volunteerism through a local government that is accessible, efficient, and accountable to its citizens.

General Information

The residents of Simi Valley are represented by a five member, part-time City Council, composed of the Mayor and four City Council Members. The Mayor is elected at large to a two-year term, and each Council Member is elected at-large to staggered four-year terms. The City Council is responsible for the following functions:

  • Establishing policies regarding the operation of the City.
  • Taking measures to protect the City’s health, safety, and welfare.
  • Enacting laws necessary for governing City affairs.
  • Authorizing contracts on behalf of the City.
  • Adopting the City’s annual budget.
  • Representing the City at all levels of government on matters pertaining to the City’s operations.

City Council Meetings

The City Council meets on Monday evenings at the City Council Chambers in City Hall, at 2929 Tapo Canyon Road map, typically twice or more per month, at 6:30 p.m. Agendas, minutes, staff reports, and video archives for City Council meetings are available on-line.

Code of Ethics and Conduct

The citizens and businesses of Simi Valley are entitled to have fair, ethical, and accountable local government that has earned the public’s full confidence for integrity. To this end, the Simi Valley City Council has adopted a Code of Ethics and Conduct for elected officials and members of appointed boards, commissions, and committees.
